December 14th - Isaiah

In Isaiah 9:2 it says, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” Do you know the light that Isaiah is talking about? It is Jesus. He is the light that shines in a dark, dark world, and invites everyone who has felt the shadow of darkness to come partake of His light. Also, in that same chapter Isaiah describes in verse 6 and 7 the names and characteristics of Jesus and how he is the peace and the light that God sends through the lineage of David. His light is greater than any other that you have ever seen. The sun is pretty bright, some flashlights are really bright, but Jesus is our brightest light that can only be found by seeking Him.

Wisemen followed a bright star to seek the baby Jesus. We have the scriptures that can help us find Jesus. There are so many wonderful prophecies about Him in the Old Testament. Take a moment to look for one that you can hang up where everyone can see.

Sharing what you know about Jesus and how He is your light is like being a light yourself. You can shine for others by following Jesus and seeking Him and His precious gift of His atonement. Remember God’s unconditional, unchanging, uncontainable, unending, and unfailing love? He sends it as light through Jesus Christ and through you to His other children.

This Christmas season light a candle and think about someone who might need Jesus’s light today. Think of a simple way you can share His light by something you do.
