December 6th - Sarah

 Can you count all the ways that God loves you? You can see them all around you and in the people that love you and in the experiences you have. God loves all of His children and wants them to know about His love. When God made the covenant with Abram, He changed Abram’s name to Abraham. He was married to Sarai, who got her name changed too, to Sarah. These two wonderful people wanted to follow God and wanted to bless the world, but the problem was they didn’t have any children. So, they thought, “how are we supposed to bless the world we are getting old, and we have no children to bless the world with?” But they trusted that God would always keep His promises. In Genesis 21:2-5 you can read about how old Abraham was and how many years they waited for God to answer their prayers. Sometimes God answers prayers right away and sometimes He waits so that we can learn to trust Him, because He ALWAYS keeps His promises, they are usually just on His time schedule not ours.

One day some men came to Abraham and told him his wife would have a baby. Sarah overheard and laughed. She didn’t really believe that it would
happen, but Abraham reminded her that God does things in unexpected ways and at unexpected times. She did have a baby! It was a boy and they named him Isaac, which means laughter. They were so happy to finally have a baby. They knew God does keep His promises. God also promised that He would send a special child that would be free from fear and be able to laugh because this baby who would grow up and die for all of God’s children and would make it so God’s love conquered all of the fears and hurts in our hearts that we have or will ever have. He gives us the joy in knowing that there is nothing that can keep us from God’s unconditional, unchanging, uncontainable, unending, and unfailing love.

This Christmas season spend some time laughing with people you love and remember that God always keeps His promises, especially the promise of His Son
